Scout Insurance

Every member of the Scout Association is covered by an insurance policy provided by Unity (Scout Insurance Services). Unfortunately parents of children in Scouting are not covered by this policy unless you are a full member of Scouting such as a leader.

This Scout Association trusts Unity to protect you the members by providing the insurance that covers the followig.

Accidents and Injuries

You never know when an accident may strike. Being prepared is a way of life in Scouting, but sometimes we need a little help to cope with the unexpected.

That is why Unity covers all its members with a Personal Accident and Medical Expenses insurance policy.

All members and prospective members of a Scout group are covered, however members over the age of 70 have reduced benifits.

Benifits include the normal things associated with policies of this nature, such as loss of sight, total loss of use for limbs and fingers, hospital confinemet payments of £10 per day and loss of earnings if you are so ill you can't work...

For more details and monitary benifits please take a look at the Scout Associations website.

Medical, Travel and Dental Expenses

Every member of Scouting also has medical, travel and dental cover as part of the Unity policy.

If a member is hospitalised away from home then upto two relatives or friends who, on medical advice, are required to traval to and remain with the member are also covered under the policy.

Benfits include £10,000 medical expenses incurred in respect of bodily injury sustained, loss of clothings as a consequence of an injury and £5,000 dental expenses.

For more details and monitary benifits please take a look at the Scout Associations website.

Liability Insurance

Unity covers all Scouting members with public liability and trustee indemnity insurance.

Public liability insurance covers the cost of compensation to third parties for injury, loss or damage to body or property caused by the negligence of groups members.

Trustee indemnity insurance covers group trustees in the event that they are held personally liable for the loss of charity assets or for making a decision which results in the charity sustaining a loss in financial terms. It does not cover acts which the trustee knew would constitute a breach of trust.

All adults members of Scouting such as leaders, chairman and treasurer as classed as trustees, as the Scout Association is a listed charity.
